V-Locker wins major order from Stadtwerke Bonn and builds automatic bicycle parking facilities at four locations

The city of Bonn is promoting sustainable mobility in the urban center. With the “Emission-free City Centre” funding project, it is building V-Locker fully automatic bicycle parking facilities with a total of 280 lockers in which bicycles can be safely parked at four central locations.

V-Locker AG won the tender for Germany’s largest project for modular and digital parking systems for two-wheelers. By the end of the year, the facilities will be built at the Frankenbadplatz, Stiftsplatz, Konrad-Adenauer-Platz and at the train station in Beuel. This creates a network of safe and convenient parking facilities, which can be further expanded in the future.

V-Locker AG from Dübendorf, Switzerland, has quickly established itself as a leading manufacturer in the market for automatic bicycle parking systems. It was the only company able to meet the high requirements of Stadtwerke Bonn in terms of the specified short construction time, digital operation and support.

The system from the Swiss company V-Locker AG consists of mechanical lightweight modules and a digital operating platform (IoT) that is in constant exchange. Within each tower module, the bicycle lockers move vertically in a paternoster lift system.

Using the app, it is possible to book the lockers conveniently 24/7 from home or on the go. The opening, closing and ending of the booking is done with just a few clicks and offers many advantages for users. This means that the box can be accessed several times during the booking process without any additional effort, for example to leave purchases. Friends and family can also use the ‘Share Box’ function to access the booked bicycle parking space. In addition to the bike, the helmet, rain cover and backpack can be stored in the storage compartment.

Users can register quickly and securely using the usual online registration options. The offer will also be integrated into the SWB app BONNmobil.
